The 519 was established in Toronto in 1975 in the heart of church street which to this day remains a vibrant 2SLGBTQ+ community hub. It began as a community centre that was community-led and serves both the local community and the broader 2SLGBTQ+ community within the Greater Toronto Area. The 519 is committed to the health, happiness and full participation of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
The 519 offers a range of services that support their guiding principles of justice & poverty reduction, adaptation, anti-black racism supports, indigenous reconciliation, well-being & sustainability including: Newcomer services, community supports (counselling/anti-violence), community drop-in programs, sports and recreation initiatives, family and children services, queer parenting programs, trans community services, research, education & training.
